What We Carry Forward

Today is my Dad’s birthday, which by a fateful irony is also the anniversary of my Mom’s death, twenty-one years ago today. A moment ago. A lifetime ago.

I miss them both so much and yet the more aware I become, the more I see them all around. When I push away the grief, it grows within me. When I step into the grief, I find love on the other side.
